How to Get Your SSS Number Online

New to SSS? Here's how to apply for your own SS number online through the official SS Number Issuance facility — free, and without a fixer.

Step by step

1. Open the official SSS websiteType sss.gov.ph into your browser. On the homepage, go to the Become an SSS Member section.
2. Start the SS number applicationClick Apply for an SS Number Online. This opens the official SS Number Issuance facility — the only correct place to begin.
3. Fill in the verification formComplete the Registrant Record Verification form with your personal details and a valid email address. Tick the 'I'm not a robot' box and the certification checkbox.
4. Submit your applicationReview everything for accuracy — mismatched names or birth dates cause rejections — then submit the form.
5. Confirm through your emailSSS sends a confirmation link to your email. Open it before it expires (it is valid for a limited number of calendar days) to continue the process.
6. Complete the details and generate your numberFollow the link, complete any remaining information, and submit. The system issues your permanent SS number, which you should save carefully.

Every Filipino worker’s relationship with the Social Security System begins with one thing: a personal SS number. It is a permanent, lifelong identifier, and you should only ever have one. Before you can log in online, pay contributions, or claim any benefit, this number has to exist. The good news is that first-time applicants can now secure it online, for free, without setting foot in a branch or paying anyone to ‘help’.

SS number vs. My.SSS account

People often blur these two, then get stuck. The SS number is your membership number — the identity SSS knows you by. The My.SSS account is the online login you create afterward using that number. You cannot register for the online account until the number exists. So the order matters: get the number first, then set up the account. What you’ll need

• A valid, working personal email address you can open immediately.
• Your correct full name and date of birth — enter them exactly as on your birth record.
• A few uninterrupted minutes to complete the form in one sitting.

Accuracy here saves you real frustration. The most common cause of a failed application is a mismatch between what you type and your official records, so double-check before submitting.

The application, step by step

Begin on the official website and open the Become an SSS Member area, then choose Apply for an SS Number Online. This launches the SS Number Issuance facility — the only correct starting point. Complete the Registrant Record Verification form, tick the anti-robot and certification boxes, and submit. SSS then emails you a confirmation link.

The confirmation link is time-limited. If you let it expire, you’ll usually have to start a fresh application — so open your email and confirm as soon as it arrives.

After you confirm, you complete any remaining details and the system generates your permanent SS number. Write it down and store it somewhere safe. You will use it for the rest of your working life.

One number, for life

It is worth stressing that your SS number is issued once and never replaced. Some people, unsure whether an old application went through, apply a second time and accidentally end up with two numbers — a mess that later delays loans and benefits and has to be untangled by SSS. If you suspect you were issued a number years ago, do not re-apply. Instead, recover the existing one through SSS by presenting valid identification. A single, correct number keeps your entire contribution history in one place, which is exactly what you want when the time comes to claim.

Avoiding fixers and fake sites

Because so many first-time applicants are unsure of the process, scammers fill the gap with fake ‘instant SS number’ websites and paid ‘assistance’. None of that is necessary. The number is free, and the only legitimate path is the official facility at sss.gov.ph. Never share your new SS number, a one-time PIN, or any password with someone who contacts you — SSS does not ask for those by call or text. If you need help, the official SSS hotline is 1455.
